Harris Broadcast to Showcase Latest Integrated Solutions at Broadcast Asia 2013

Denver, CO, May 15, 2013

Harris Broadcast is showcasing an array of its latest integrated broadcast solutions at Broadcast Asia 2013 (June 18-21, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, booth 5B3-03). The demonstrations will focus on the key issues facing broadcasters today: using cost-effective technology throughout the content lifecycle to generate new revenue streams in traditional and emerging business models.

“Broadcast Asia remains the premier trade show to interface with our customers from throughout the Asia-Pacific region,” said Richard Scott, senior vice president, global sales and services at Harris Broadcast. “We look forward to formally unveiling our new brand to the region at this show, along with our latest products and technology developments. This show provides us with a great opportunity not only to meet existing customers and new prospects, but also explore new ideas, and gather market intelligence on local trends that will help us drive technological developments and meet the changing needs of this region and beyond.”

The acceleration of IP connectivity makes the new Harris Broadcast Platinum™ IP3 router the centerpiece of its display. Being shown in the Asia-Pacific region for the first time, this new iteration of the world-renowned Platinum router series is unique in offering triple-path routing, with unique paths for audio, video and other services including IP data in the same frame. It is ideal paired with the popular Selenio™ media convergence platform, which combines traditional baseband video and audio processing, compression and IP networking features in a single, space-saving 3U frame. The Platinum IP3 router will be demonstrated with the latest Harris Broadcast Magellan™ control panels.

The display will also focus on the Versio™ integrated channel playout solution, Harris Broadcast’s unique approach to channel-in-a-box. Versio takes key elements of Harris Broadcast’s proven automation, server, graphics and branding technology and implements them in a highly resilient 1U box. New playout features and improved ease of use that give broadcasters more freedom and flexibility to manage and grow single- and multi-channel operations. Updates include HD/SD simulcast, playlist control, and enhanced graphics management, making Versio the ideal choice for rapid start-up operations, mixed environments of premium and thematic channels, and disaster recovery centers.

Harris Broadcast will also emphasize the significance of file-based workflows in today’s broadcast facilities with its latest NEXIO Volt™ server, addressing the need for higher channel counts in a compact form factor. Harris Broadcast will demonstrate the software-centric NEXIO Volt in conjunction with the NEXIO Farad™ online storage system, which provides central resources for complex ingest and playout networks. The file-based workflow demonstration will also include the Harris Broadcast QuiC™ software-based quality control solution for file analysis.

On display for the first time at Broadcast Asia is the Harris Broadcast Inscriber® G8 graphics production system. Built for high-end graphics creation, the Inscriber G8 provides uncompressed imagery and unprecedented graphics and animation capabilities. It offers real-time creation and execution of the high-caliber, complex 3D graphics and animations that today’s live news, sports and special events demand.

The last stage in the content lifecycle is delivery to the consumer, an area where Harris Broadcast has a long and strong reputation. For conventional transmission requirements the Broadcast Asia demonstration includes latest Flexiva™ and Maxiva™ air-cooled solid-state transmitters. Each incorporates the latest remarkable advances in high-power technology, merging world-class performance with unprecedented energy efficiency, slashing the total cost of ownership and ensuring high reliability. Both Maxiva, meeting all current digital television standards, and Flexiva, serving analog FM and digital radio, feature software-defined exciters to support changing broadcast requirements.

With IP increasingly the transport fabric for contribution and distribution links, including services to transmitter sites, Harris Broadcast will demonstrate its growing IP Link codec family for radio broadcasters. IP Link codecs offer support for multiple audio formats, exceptional streaming bandwidth, and elimination of service interruptions through delivery of multiple identical streams. The new IP Link 200 model adds a second bidirectional stereo input for multi-channel capability.
