Saudi Broadcasting Corporation Continues Migration to DVB-T2 Digital TV with Harris Broadcast
Denver/Dubai, UAE, March 12, 2013
Harris Broadcast has secured a new DVB-T2 transmission order from Saudi Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) as the country continues its transition to a national network of digital transmitters and satellite services. The latest phase of the ongoing SBC modernization program will add transmitters to sites in Aded and Yabren, bringing the total number of Harris Broadcast-supported DVB-T2 transmission sites to nine.
Harris Broadcast will supply compact, energy-saving Maxiva™ ULX (3.4kW) and Maxiva UAX (2kW) UHF transmitters in cooperation with Saudi Arabian dealer and systems integrator First Gulf Company (FGC). Both models feature the Harris Broadcast PowerSmart® architecture for the broadcast industry's highest power density and operational efficiency for over-the-air transmission; and incorporate the Apex M2X™ multimedia exciter to ensure best in class performance, reliability and signal quality.
Harris Broadcast will also supply its Videotek® MSA multi-stream analyzers to enable real-time monitoring of multiple over-the-air channels. Videotek MSA Series analyzers enable full testing of compressed video conformance, audio levels and data services — all in a 1RU, space-saving package.
“Harris Broadcast has proven solutions for DVB-T2 transmission and this new order showcases the breadth of our capabilities to support the roll out of country-wide DVB-T2 infrastructure,” commented Said Bacho, vice president of sales and services, Middle East and South Asia at Harris Broadcast. “We are delighted to work with First Gulf Company and Saudi Broadcasting Corporation to continue this program across Saudi Arabia by using some of our highly efficient DVB-T2 transmitters that help to reduce operating costs, optimize the available broadcast spectrum and ensure real integration throughout the workflow.”
Harris Broadcast and FGC are working together to upgrade these sites with Harris Broadcast DVB-T2 transmitters, along with tower, antenna and electrical upgrades.
