GatesAir Drives Over-The-Air Efficiencies for National Radio Upgrade in Sweden
Network operator Teracom cites high performance, low operating costs of GatesAir FM transmitters as key differentiators from competitive solutions
Cincinnati, OH, August 26, 2014
GatesAir, a global leader in over-the-air wireless broadcast solutions for radio and television, announces that Teracom, a national network operator distributing all over-the-air radio and TV channels across Sweden, has engaged with GatesAir for a network-wide FM upgrade. The initial rollout phase will conclude in the first quarter of 2015, with installations scheduled for one dozen of its 30-plus FM stations. The remaining installations will conclude in 2016, ultimately reducing costs and improving efficiencies across the entire network.
Teracom selected GatesAir Flexiva™ transmitters following an evaluation process that proved superior modularity, reliability and serviceability against competitive products. For Teracom, these overall efficiency gains will minimize network-wide costs associated with labor and utilities over the lifecycle of the transmitters—ensuring a clear return on investment due to low total cost of ownership.
“The proven innovation of Flexiva transmitters will introduce increased efficiency and reliability in the Teracom FM network for many years to come,” says Per G Borgå, Product Manager Radio, Teracom. “We expect the operational benefits of deploying GatesAir across our FM network will deliver high-quality radio broadcasts to listeners nationwide, thereby strengthening our customers in their operative goals.”
GatesAir is streamlining the delivery and installation process through integrated and pre-tested transmitter systems, simplifying transport across Sweden and accelerating the pace at which Teracom engineers can install and deploy the transmitters. The intelligent PowerSmart® 3D architecture of Flexiva transmitters also minimizes ongoing maintenance, featuring a broadband design that enables hot-swappable modules and power supplies while reducing spare parts. Lighter module and power supply weights additionally contribute to a reduction in labor costs, requiring only a single engineer to conduct service requirements. This also allows Teracom to more effectively allocate engineering resources across its operation.
“The replacement of Teracom’s current FM transmitters with our higher-efficiency Flexiva models will ensure high performance and low total cost of ownership for years to come across Sweden,” said Alain Pecot, vice president of sales, Europe, Africa. Middle East and Asia-Pacific, GatesAir. “We’re delighted to support Teracom as the company transitions to a new generation of over-the-air technology that will surely protect its long-term investment and accelerate its ROI.”
